Is Bensonhurst still an Italian neighborhood?

Bensonhurst was for generations the most iconic Italian-American neighborhood in Brooklyn, and that heritage remains visible in its restaurants, bakeries, social clubs, and the annual feast along 18th Avenue, historically nicknamed Cristoforo Colombo Boulevard. However, the neighborhood has become far more diverse in recent decades, and today it is home to one of Brooklyn's largest Chinese communities, along with Russian, Eastern European, and other populations. Bensonhurst is now best described as a diverse neighborhood with deep Italian-American roots rather than an exclusively Italian one.
