Is East Flatbush safe?

East Flatbush is a large, primarily residential neighborhood in central-southeast Brooklyn, and safety varies across its many blocks. Much of it consists of quiet streets of rowhouses and small homes with a strong, family-oriented Caribbean community and high homeownership. Crime has trended down over the years alongside steady community investment. As with any large neighborhood, conditions differ block by block and common-sense awareness is sensible, but much of East Flatbush is a settled, community-minded place to live.
