Is Sheepshead Bay safe?

Sheepshead Bay is generally considered a safe, family-oriented neighborhood, one of the more settled parts of southern Brooklyn. A waterfront community with a strong immigrant presence and a lively Emmons Avenue restaurant scene, it has low-to-moderate crime and a residential, community feel across most of its blocks. As with any neighborhood, conditions vary somewhat and common-sense awareness is sensible, but Sheepshead Bay is widely regarded as a comfortable, welcoming place to live, particularly for families.
