Is Williamsburg safe?

Williamsburg is generally considered a safe neighborhood, especially its northern and waterfront sections, which have seen enormous investment over the past two decades. It is a busy, well-trafficked area with active nightlife, dining, and retail along Bedford Avenue and the waterfront that keeps streets lively into the night. As in any dense urban neighborhood, some blocks are quieter than others and common-sense awareness is wise after dark, but Williamsburg's popularity, foot traffic, and ongoing development make most of it a comfortable place to live.
