What is Greenpoint known for?

Greenpoint is known as the heart of Brooklyn's Polish-American community, sometimes called Little Poland, with Manhattan and Nassau Avenues lined by Polish bakeries, delis, and restaurants. It is also known for its industrial-maritime history, its increasingly popular East River waterfront with new parks and condominium developments, and McCarren Park on its border with Williamsburg. In recent years it has earned a reputation for excellent dining, independent shops, and a quieter, more authentic feel than its busier neighbor, which is a large part of its real estate appeal.
