Where is Brighton Beach and is it in South Brooklyn?

Brighton Beach is an oceanfront neighborhood at the southern edge of Brooklyn, sitting on the Atlantic between Coney Island to the west and Manhattan Beach and Sheepshead Bay to the east. It is firmly part of southern Brooklyn. Its main commercial spine, Brighton Beach Avenue, runs beneath the elevated B and Q subway lines, which connect the neighborhood north through Brooklyn and into Manhattan. Its beach and boardwalk are shared with adjoining Coney Island.
